LIZ LOKRE: a Catchup on igniting the FIRE that fuels CommUNITY
What better way to celebrate and expand with the new moon in Libra last month than by walking through the fire? I’m no astrology expert but I do know that this time, and the fall season in general can be a period of dismantling old patterns and rebirth of the self, setting ablaze what no longer works and igniting what does.
Which is why I was excited to bring my friend Liz Lokre back into the Fold to discuss her new EP FIRE and its sonic force of inspiring new beginnings, drawing upon one’s resiliency, engage in healing and explore identity.
In case you’re not familiar with Liz Lokre, she is one of the most soulful and soul-driven artists from Toronto that comes from a line of artists and members of the global entertainment industry – her Dad was a booking agent in his native Dublin, Ireland while her Trinidadian-born mom was a professional Indian dancer and performer, and her grandmother was a progenitor of a signature style of Indian dance. Liz carries this lineage with her in a profound and powerful way as a tool to heal.
FIRE is a part of a series of element driven EPs that have been released steadily since the start of the year, including EARTH and WATER; each inspired by those natural, ever innate forces. They follow many other incredible projects Liz has released over time.
In this episode of CommUNITY Catchup, we discuss FIRE and how Liz has been using this element to fuel the EP and other facets of her life and career through heritage, community and collaboration.
